Client Testimonials

R.A Potter Construction is an incredible company. I had wanted to do a kitchen- living room remodel, for some time, but put it off until I had water damage that forced the issue. I met with Richard, and knew right away that he was someone I could work with. He has an excellent demeanor, very down to earth and always professional. I have been a home owner for over 25 years, had done a previous remodel but without reservation, his service, professionalism and expertise as a contractor is unmatched. He is responsible, helped me stay within my budget, even when I wanted to stray, and was there every step of the way. He even showed up on weekends, to get the job done. He responded quickly to any concerns I had and always came when he said he would, on time, and delivers as promised. Most projects go way budget or takes more time then promised but Richard kept everything on schedule and finished the project as he said he would on time! By far the best customer service I have experienced, which is so rare, especially these days. His workers were all top notch and Richard oversaw everything. No detail was too small. He cares deeply about his work and his clients and is a gifted contractor. He has an excellent vision and even gave me design advice when I was wavering on some of the many decisions I had to make. It is so unusual to find such an amazing, talented, contractor with excellent customer service, workmanship, and who is so honest, with a lovely demeanor that makes what could be a very stressful situation ( btw I lived at home during the remodel) fun and made it as stress free as possible. R.A Potter is a rare find and Richard the owner is a rare gem. Highly recommend and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Richard just completed our kitchen remodel on time and in keeping with what was promised. We are very pleased with the results and the ease of working with Richard and his subcontractors who were terrific. Richard was very detailed at the outset, provided us a calendar of when different elements of the job would occur and was timely in his responses throughout the project.

We would highly recommend him.

Richard Potter recently completed our basement renovation from an unfinished basement and garage into an AADU in North Ballard. We are very happy with the result. He understood what we were after better than other major firms we received bids from. He completed our project on budget and accommodated several additions to the scope at reasonable expense. This project took some time due to a permit issue and work stoppage due to COVID. I was worried these delays would lead to scheduling issues with the subs but Rich had it all under control and work progressed quickly whenever possible. We would certainly recommend him and my wife is asking about renovating the kitchen in the main house now because the AADU is nicer.

I discovered Richard Potter through the Queen Anne Neighborhood Newspaper. And what a fortuitous find! He did a complete bathroom remodel, removing old fixtures and installing new, and including replacement of plumbing in our 1907 house that had failed inside the wall. The remodel was intended to be middle-of the road on a budget and finishing scale, since we were getting the house ready to rent. Richard had a full appreciation for this, and himself selected fixtures that fit the budget, but were nevertheless complimentary to the style of the house. The remodel proceeded without a hitch, with excellent sub-contractors that he hired. He came in on time and within budget, adding beauty and fair value to our house. Richard stayed in touch throughout the whole process and stopped by to check on his subs' work regularly. We also felt his team was personable, trustworthy and did a good job. We would give him ten stars if possible and heartily recommend him to anyone who wants an honest, qualified, responsive and easy to work with contractor. He will be our first call if we ever need remodel work again!

I had R. A. Potter remodel my kitchen by turning a small bathroom within my kitchen into a pantry. When Mr. Potter came for a quote he had a good idea of how he was going to do the job, and what kind of shelving should be installed. I found that helpful because I still wasn't sure what kind of shelving would be the most efficient use of space. I found R.A. Potter staff to be friendly and professional with a genuine respect for the job, as well as my property. I am pleased with my new pantry, it looks beautiful.

We worked with Richard Potter on a near-full remodel our home. We purchased a property in August 2017 and worked with Richard on 3x different projects between September 2017 and June 2018. Richard was superb to work with. He has a get-the-project done attitude, moves/works fast, and communicated with us very well throughout our entire time on the various projects. Our projects involved vaulting our living room + kitchen ceiling, building a new master bedroom and master bathroom, and converting part of our attached 1-car garage into a proper laundry room + office/nursery. We came prepared with a vision for what we wanted to see, and how we wanted the ceiling converted. However Richard's partnership, guidance, and advice at each step along the way ensured that the project was done well, to code, and that my wife and I also felt like we understood why certain building decisions were ultimately better for the longetivity and resell value of our home. I would highly recommend working with Richard, and would refer him for both small 1-room projects as well as larger home remodeling projects.
